Day 78: Jesus is My Papa Bear, Part 2
Please read the Bible verses for today:
Matthew 18:10-14
The Parable of the Wandering Sheep
10 “See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven." (Matthew 18:10-11)
"...one of these little ones." We found that in Matthew 18:1-4 Jesus called a little child over to Himself and said, "...unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven." And in Matthew 18:6 we read, "“If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me..." WE are His 'little ones' if we believe in Him. So, today Jesus is warning the world not to despise one of these little ones- do not despise us! Why? Because Jesus has angels that surround His 'little ones' and those angels see the face of God!

12 “What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off? 13 And if he finds it, truly I tell you, he is happier about that one sheep than about the ninety-nine that did not wander off. 14 In the same way your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should perish." (Mathew 18:10-14)
Five years ago I wrote, 'The Lost Lamb.' It is about the first time I ever read this story in the Bible and how completely shocked I was to find that the shepherd would leave the 99 sheep to find the one lost lamb. It's about my realization of just how much Jesus really does love us.
Today as I read this story, after reading over the last couple of days about how Jesus sees me as one of His 'little ones' and how it would be better for someone to wear a millstone around his neck than to cause me to sin, I see Jesus as my Papa Bear again. Jesus' love is so protective of me and of you. He has angels that watch over us and He would leave the ninety-nine to bring us back to Himself. He cares about each one of us. Over the last couple of days, I've seen Jesus not just love us, but love us with a ferocious love. He is willing to threaten those who come against us: "6 “If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea. 7 Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to stumble! Such things must come, but woe to the person through whom they come!" (Matthew 18:6-7) He is willing to send angels to watch over us night and day. He is ready to search day and night to find us and bring us back. This isn't just love, this is protective, and enormous love.
I don't think I ever felt that my own earthly father would fight to get me back, but here my Heavenly Father would. I never felt special to my earthly father, but over the last couple of days I'm really seeing that I matter to God and that He would truly fight for me and fight to protect me. There is healing that comes in reading the Word of God.
Pray with me:
Thank you Jesus for loving me so much. Thank you for protecting me so well. Thank you for the strong language you use towards my enemies in protection of me. Thank you for being different than my earthly dad. Thank you that I am finally able to see how much you really love me. Thank you for calling me your, 'little one.' I love you with all my heart. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
